Introductory Paper EcoToxChip: A next‐generation toxicogenomics tool for chemical prioritization and environmental management
EDITOR'S HIGHLIGHTS: The EcoToxChip project featured in this Focus article represents an effort by researchers at McGill University, the University of Saskatchewan, and Environment and Climate Change Canada, along with a broad coalition of partners (in government and industry who drive the work), to develop, test, and validate one such novel testing approach. Specifically, the objective of the EcoToxChip project (www.ecotoxchip.ca) is to develop, test, validate, and commercialize quantitative polymerase chain reaction arrays (EcoToxChips) and a data evaluation tool (EcoToxXplorer.ca) for the characterization, prioritization, and management of environmental chemicals and complex mixtures of regulatory concern. In addition to providing new tools, the project aims to provide guidance to regulators and other end-users (e.g., within industry or academia) with regard to the adoption of toxicogenomics testing tools in ways that support current risk-assessment activities and chemicals management programs. The Focus article provides a high-level overview of the EcoToxChip project.
